Third Round of Classic Piano Begins

Today marked the exciting start to Classic Piano's third round, with the first three of the competition's remaining 18 participants joined by the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra conducted by Sergey Smbatyan.

Third Round of Classic Piano Begins

The third round of the Classic Piano International Competition got underway today, with the first three candidates performing live with the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra under the baton of its Founder, Artistic Director and Principal Conductor, Sergey Smbatyan.

Tasked with the difficult feat of performing two concertos consecutively, the competition's third stage presents a unique challenge to the participants, with not only their musical and technical skill put to the test, but also with the considerable length of the programme providing an additional challenge to their performance.

The addition of coordinating with a live orchestra also lent an added consideration to the proceedings, but we are pleased to report that the candidates presented admirable performances, demonstrating both an excellent standard of pianism and considerable professionalism.

The competitors commented on feeling greatly supported by the orchestra and the conductor, and noted their enjoyment of the experience.

Tomorrow marks another engaging day of Classic Piano as we enter day two of the third round, when another three candidates will compete for their place in the event's thrilling conclusion. We'll be back with more updates tomorrow evening, and just a reminder that you can catch up on today's performances by visiting YouTube, and can watch the live stream tomorrow by visiting Classic Piano's homepage.

Congratulations to all of today's competitors, and best of luck to those performing tomorrow!
