Shion Ota — Classic Piano

Originally from Osaka, Shion Ota graduated from Tokyo College of Music High School and won a Special Scholarship to attend Tokyo College of Music, accelerating through the Piano Performance Course ‘Excellence’. She has studied under Katsunori Ishii, Mari Takeda, Minoru Nojima, Yuka Hanzawa and Farkas Gabor. She currently studies under Yukio Yokoyama.

Shion has performed with leading orchestras throughout Japan including Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra, Kansai Philharmonic Orchestra, Osaka Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, and beyond with the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra. She has also participated in several piano academies, including the Hamamatsu International Piano Academy, the Villa Sandra Piano Academy and the Classical Bridge Festival. From 2013 to 2015, she was a recipient of the Yamaha Foundation Scholarship, the Aoyama Music Foundation Scholarship in 2017 and the Rohm Music Foundation Scholarship in 2019.

In 2018, Shion was selected as one of five musicians to perform in Japan’s prestigious CHANEL Pygmalion Days competition.
