All programmes must be performed from memory.

1st Round · Recital Duration: min. 15 - max. 20 minutes

1. One Prelude & Fugue from the Well-Tempered Clavier (Book I or II) by Johann Sebastian Bach.

2.  Two virtuoso Etudes. To choose one etude by two different composers from the list below:

  • Frederic Chopin
  • Franz Liszt
  • Sergei Rachmaninoff
  • Alexander Scriabin
  • Claude Debussy

3. One composition by a Maltese Composer from the list below:

  • Charles Camilleri – Anatolia; or Xnobis; or Etudes nos. 4 & 5 from Book Three ‘Picasso Set’ and Interlude II from ‘Times of Day’
  • Mariella Cassar – Opus I or Oriental Prints
  • John Galea – Spirals
  • Albert Garzia – Parts from Divergence and Consequence; Minute Miniatures; Rumanz (tribute to Mozart) or Wacky Noisy Thing
  • Albert Pace – Tidwir Part I or II
  • Reuben Pace – Asteroid Field
  • Manoel Pirotta – Carnaval Triste; Deux Mignons; Triptych; Two Maltese Pictures or Victims of Ponte Morandi
  • Joseph Vella – Scherzo or minimum one movement from ‘Sonatina’

3. A composition, min. 7 minutes, written after 1900.
